Functions of the Department
- Formulation and oversight of national investment policy and strategies for trade and industrial development in conformity with the development plans of Puntland.
- Formulation, approval, facilitation and promotion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Policy and strategies.
- Promotion of local investment and partnership with international investors.
- Providing information on investment opportunities and sources of capital to local investors including youth and women.
- Providing information to investors on the business climate, regulatory requirements, tax rebates and incentives.
- Promote industry development, foreign investment and guarantees the rights of citizens to participate in the economy of Puntland
- Liaison with other government agencies for the issuance of additional licenses and approvals not directly handled by the Ministry or its affiliated agencies.
- Undertaking regular follow-ups on investments and investors in the country to monitor success and challenges.
- Undertake research on investment and business environment and opportunities in the country to inform investors and government on various investment support requirements.
