Functions of the department

• Formulation, coordination and implementation of Industrialization policies. strategies and programmes in Puntland
• Review and monitor national industrialization policies and regulations
• Establishment, coordination review and monitoring of industrial property rights to protection and usage patents and trademarks
• Establishment and oversighting enforcement of quality standards
•  Creation of enabling environment for domestic and foreign direct investments
• Promotion of industrial sector technical, entrepreneurial and managerial skills development
• Arbitration and settlement of Industrial disputes
• Promotion of Industrial research, innovation and technology transfer for industries in Puntland 
• Coordination of market linkages, access to finance, and tax and policy incentives for Special processing zones and Micro small Industries
• Facilitation of Accreditation and Certification of industries
• Ensure consumer protection from counterfeit goods
• Protection of local industries from market spoilage through dumping of cheap imports
• Monitoring and evaluation of industrial development projects to determine their impacts
• Promote energy efficiency and environmental conservation to embrace clean technology and meet international market standards.
• Engage trade partners to get incentives for industrial machines and technology transfer.
• Promotion and development of industrial Estates, Parks, Enterprise zones including maintenance of infrastructures therein.
• Liaison with relevant Industrial and Trade Groups and Associations
