The Functions of the department of quality control include; –

• Development and oversight of policies, regulations and guidelines on standards, traceability, weights & measures and conformity to set quality standards.
• Development and oversight implementation quality standards for various goods produced locally and imported into Puntland.
•  Establishment and oversight of quality assessment and monitoring systems.
•  Oversight implementation of international quality standards in Puntland to ensure locally produced products conform with the set international standards and quality assurance systems.
• Develop and oversight quality Assurance and testing centres in various parts of Puntland
• In partnership with regional and international standards development and management bodies create, promote and monitor quality standards implementation by public and private sector institutions.
• Establish weights and measures regulations and guidelines for all products and transport sector.
• Establish a quality assurance body to oversee implementation various standards guidelines implementation and monitoring of compliance with set standards.
• Create and oversee the Puntland barcoding systems and regulations to enhance traceability.

Establish and oversight standards and inspection agency, guidelines and compliance monitoring regulations.
